Holiday Kick-off—Thanksgiving Weekend Activities

Spend Thanksgiving weekend at the HRM! Art workshops and festive tours and tales kick-off a season of holiday spirit with something for everyone to enjoy!

–Explore the Museum’s historic home, Glenview, decked for the holidays in full Victorian splendor, and learn about holiday traditions in the Gilded Age – Tours at 1 & 3pm

–Paint and collage a wintry river scene (1-4pm)

–Family Art Class (1:30-3pm) –Work on a fluid drawing using recycled paper, fabric and other recycled materials that will depict the Hudson River and the plants and animals that live in it.

–Family Tour: Making Hudson River Memories (1:30 & 2:30pm) – take a tour inspired by Maya Lin’s “What Is Missing.” Explore “A River Is a Drawing” and Hudson Riverama environmental teaching gallery to discover Hudson River species both past and present. Ages 3+

–Legends and Lore of the Hudson (2 & 4pm) – Teaching Artist-in-Residence Jim Keyes spins traditional and modern tales of the Hudson River. He has been composing, performing, and teaching music throughout the Hudson Valley for over 25  years, focused on the act of songwriting and a deep concern for the Hudson River and its welfare.
