Francis Kowsky on Jacob Wrey Mould
In-Person and Virtually via Zoom

Francis Kowsky will introduce us to Jacob Wrey Mould, the talented designer and architect who worked closely with Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux on Central Park and other landscapes. Mould is responsible for iconic places such as Central Park’s Belvedere Castle and Bethesda Terrace, the original Metropolitan Museum of Art, the American Museum of Natural History, and the Morningside Park promenade among other his other work. Kowsky’s new book, Hell on Color, Sweet on Song published by Fordham University Press, explores Mould’s life and work. Francis Kowsky is one of America’s foremost Architectural Historians and a SUNY Distinguished Professor Emeritus. He has written significant books in the field including Country, Park and City: The Architecture and Life of Calvert Vaux and The Best Planned City in the World: Olmsted, Vaux and the Buffalo Park System.
