Artist’s Statement:

I am an oil painter with a strong sense of color and composition that stems from my background in design, and from my love and appreciation of art history. I create joyful, contemporary artworks, which I paint often depending on the season. My inspiration comes from locations with a sense of calm and changing light, or from florals, or from vintage pieces with a story to tell.

The theme that ties my pieces together is an underlying sense of warmth and nostalgia – they are stories that transport the onlooker to another place.

About the Artist:

Jacqueline creates contemporary artworks in oils. She developed a love for painting with oils after studying at the Art Students League in New York and taking workshops with working artists around the East Coast and eventually began painting full time herself.

Jacqueline has a strong design background: Originally from England she graduated with BA (Hons) in Design as well as a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education from Manchester (UK). She has worked in Graphic Design; led a High School Design and Technology department for several years; then ran a ceramics business.

She began oil painting with a passion about 10 years ago, and has recently returned to teaching, leading oil painting classes within Adult Education.

Jacqueline has a great love of art and art history. She has led gallery visits with local groups to galleries all around the city of New York and beyond.

Jacqueline has exhibited her work locally at The Edward Hopper house, Nyack, The Blue Door Gallery, Yonkers, The Mamaroneck Artists Guild and The Rye Arts Center.
