Gershwin & Friends with Hyperion Knight
The Sanctuary Series, presenting some of the world’s most accomplished pianists in the pastoral setting of northern Westchester’s historic Hamlet of South Salem, begins the spring portion of its 2014-2015 season with a recital entitled “Gershwin & Friends,” featuring Hyperion Knight on Sunday afternoon March 8 at 3pm.
Known for his romantic touch and a diversity of repertoire from Beethoven to the Beatles, Hyperion Knight regularly appears with orchestras across the United States and headlines at venues including Manhattan’s Rainbow Room. Here he performs his virtuoso piano transcriptions of Gershwin, including “Rhapsody in Blue,’ ‘Porgy & Bess’ and ‘An American in Paris,’ along with music by Joplin, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers, and Jerome Kern.
The concert will be immediately followed by an artists wine and cheese reception at the Church courtesy of the Horse & Hound Inn, which is just across the street from the Sanctuary in the heart of the historic Hamlet.
