George Coleman and The New Breed

Friday, June 27, 2014
7:30 pm - 10:30 pm

On Friday, June 27th Roscoe’s Room welcomes George Coleman and The New Breed, part of  G&J Productions’ Jazz Masters Series. George Coleman, one of the world’s most acclaimed saxophonists, leads a group of young firebrands, including his son George Coleman Jr. blazing on drums. The Memphis-born tenor sax giant recording seminal ’60s dates with Miles Davis (My Funny Valentine and Seven Steps to Heaven) and Herbie Hancock (Maiden Voyage). He’s been rehearsing this new ensemble—featuring Alvin & Friends favorites Alex McCabe (alto sax) and Paul Odeh (piano)—for two years. Adam Cote, who George Jr. says is “superbad,” is on bass. This is the premiere live performance of Coleman’s first quintet ensemble in decades. Two seatings, 7:30 and 9:30 PM; tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door,  $15 for students with valid ID. For advance ticket sales call 800-956-1554 or visit—Roscoe-s-Room—June.html
