Gallery Opening: Rose marie James Oil On Canvas

Oil On Canvas will be on view at The Field Library from April 3rd through April 29th. The Opening Reception will be held on Saturday April 13th from 2:00 – 4:00pm. Rose Marie James is an artist and teacher. She holds a Master of Science in Art Education, teaches at the New York Botanical Garden in their Illustration program and has studied with many renowned painters including Robert Blair, Albert Handell and Walter Prochownik. Her work is held in many private collections and has been shown at Chautauqua Institute and the Western New York Show at the Albright Knox Art Gallery. Her current works are abstracted interpretations based on her background in botanical illustration. Her oil paintings reflect how she sees the personalities of flora and fauna, pushing them beyond the real and discovering their visual potential through abstraction.
