Gallery Opening
The New York Society of Women Artists (NYSWA) present the exhibition, “Scene and Unseen” at the Brother Kenneth Chapman Gallery at Iona College. In 1925 a group of professional women artists started this society, which was not a ladies club, but modernists exhibiting their work, winning Guggenheim grants and having their work reviewed in major publications. As a celebration of Women’s History Month, the current membership of painters and sculptors will explore the theme of of the title. The exhibition runs from Feb. 24th – April 3. Gallery Hours: Monday – Thursday, noon – 5 pm, Thursday eve, 6:30 – 8, and Sundays, 2 – 5. The gallery will be closed during Spring Break, Sunday, March 16 – 23. There will be an artists gallery talk on Wednesday, April 2, 6:30 – 8:00 hosted by Sheila Kriemelman, member of NYSWA and the Fine and Performing Arts Faculty at Iona.
