FREE KIDS STORYTELLING WORKSHOP: Home Run Project with Stan Friedmann

This FREE outreach class for 2nd-6th graders starts on Wednesday May 13th and runs for 6 Wednesdays. It ends Wednesday June 17th. Class meets from 4-5 on ZOOM. Must pre-register to get the Zoom link (in the confirmation email) and please be prepared to commit to all 6 weeks of the class.

The HOME RUN PROJECT was developed over twenty years ago as an entertaining and interactive learning program to help children (grades 2nd-6th) improve listening skills and focus, encourage the love of reading and creative writing, and at the same time strengthen crucial life skills. The program is based on the true stories in THE MACMILLAN BOOK OF BASEBALL STORIES and THE GOOD GUYS OF BASEBALL co-authored by Stan Friedmann, Mike Levine, and Terry Egan—published by Simon and Schuster Books For Young Readers. Featured themes include: “Overcoming Obstacles,” ” Family Ties,” ” Making Tough Decisions,” ” The Power of Friendship,” ” Teamwork,” ” The Fun Factor,” The Love of Learning,” “Inclusion and Tolerance,” “Standing Up for Your Beliefs,” and more. Participants will have opportunities to become story-tellers through group discussions and writing exercises and will also learn about the importance of editing. The students will be asked to create original story ideas and write short stories that reflect the life lessons from the stories in the baseball books.

Stan Friedmann is a writer, storyteller, history teacher, camp director, program development professional and song writer with over forty years experience working with people of all ages. He is a former director of the Mount Tom Day Camp in New Rochelle where he mentored and coached children and staff for many years. He has presented the HOME RUN PROJECT at schools, libraries, museums ( ncluding the Baseball Hall of Fame), camps, and for corporate groups (Intergenerational model).
