Free Acting Open House on September 13! Howard Meyer’s Acting Program
Westchester, N.Y. – For adults and youngsters who want to learn about acting classes Howard Meyer’s Acting Program (“HM Acting”) on Sept. 13 will host a free, no-obligation Open House to introduce tweens, teens and adults to the multi-level acting and playwriting classes offered through the program. HM Acting is an affiliate of professional company Axial Theatre.
HM Acting’s fall 2016 semester begins Monday, Sept. 18 but there is no requirement to sign up for classes at the Sept. 13th Open House.
Michael Boyle, a local high school teacher and serious actor said:
“HM Acting classes have uniquely nurtured and enhanced my growth tremendously not only as an actor, but even more importantly as a human being. Their focus on process and genuine love, support and care for their students makes them one of the most unique and extraordinary acting trainings in the country.”
And Catherine Banks a returning professional actress says:
In HM Acting I found a nurturing and supportive environment for my return to the theatre. I feel that in the time I’ve spent working with Howard Meyer and Rachel Jones I have learned a great deal about the craft of acting and I look forward to continuing the journey.
Open House attendees will have the opportunity to meet the acting faculty, find out about what happens in the acting and classes, plus meet, mingle and ask questions of acting faculty members. Howard Meyer, the program’s founder, head instructor, and artistic director of Axial Theatre, will discuss how classes and workshops operate.
“If not now, when?” says Mr. Meyer. “So many people long to get on stage but stop themselves by thinking ‘I don’t have time,’ or ‘I’m too old or two young.” They could be missing a life-changing experience if they don’t give themselves a chance – and it might unleash their creative expression or even lead to a second career.”
HM Acting also is a popular place for those with acting credentials who may have taken a hiatus or want to reinvigorate their craft and technique.
HM Acting faculty members Howard, Rachel Jones and Jess Erick will be on hand at the Open House to explain the multiple study options for actors starting from age 10 through adult at all levels of experience- Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Master classes. There also are performance workshops, private coaching, and special one-day voice, movement and other acting disciplines that the program offers. Refreshments will be served.
Aspiring actors 10-17 years old should arrive at 5:30 p.m.; those 18 and older should arrive at 7 p.m. The Open House will be held in the Community Room of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 8 Sunnyside Ave., Pleasantville 10570.
Howard Meyer’s Acting Program fall classes begin Monday, Sept. 18. Beginner Adult (age 18 up) classes run for six and twelve weeks starting Wednesday, Sept. 20. Cost is $245 for 6 weeks and $395 for 12 weeks. Intermediate, Advanced and Master classes are offered by invitation for students previously enrolled in the program.
