Film Screening, The Wonders (2014)

The Wonders (110 minutes) is a coming-of-age epic by Alice Rohrwacher, who based the film on her childhood memories of working with her three sisters on their parents’ Tuscan bee farm. This fantastical tale is told from the oldest daughter’s point-of-view and reveals her adventures of entering her family’s honey into a TV competition called Countryside Wonders. The film won the Grand Prix award at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.

This film will be presented as part of KinoSaito’s free-admission Fall 2022 Italian Film Series cosponsored by Verplanck’s Italian heritage community on Fridays, October 14, November 11, and December 9, starting at 6 pm. For all film shows, guest speaker Michael Cramer, PhD, Sarah Lawrence College Professor of Film History, will present pre-screening introductions and facilitate post-screening discussions. Dr. Cramer specializes in teaching Italian Cinema History and Cinema in the Digital Age, among other courses.
