Family Art Class: Plastic Bag Art

Turn a major source of pollution into a work of art with local artist Natalya Aikens. Transform single-use plastic bags into a Hudson River masterpiece embellished with embroidery thread, natural elements, and art materials. Aiken’s work is inspired by the urban environment, which she creates using reclaimed and repurposed materials and collage and layering techniques, overlaid with stitching.

This program is in conjunction with “Maya Lin: A River Is a Drawing,”  a groundbreaking exhibition that focuses on the environment and ecology of the Hudson River. A series of new works and ambitious site-specific installations invite visitors to interact with their surroundings.

Feel free to bring your own green and blue plastic bags! Free with Museum admission. Purchase admission in advance here: http://www.hrm.org/information.html
