Experiments with Erasure with KRISTINE ESSER SLENTZ (via Zoom)

Who doesn’t love a good experiment; especially when it accompanies erasure? In this one-day workshop, we will work in two parts:

Act one: We will examine the craft of erasure poetry such as redaction, collage, cutout, retyped, visual, and blackout.

Act Two: We will perform expressive revisions by rewriting a new narrative from existing prose pieces using various forms of erasure and additional mediums including sound and image.

Through prompts based within the realm of experimentation, you’ll find your poetic story shapeshifting and developing. Put on your stylish lab coat, and let’s get to some rewriting work!

NB: This class will be taught on Zoom and will be capped at 15 students. Registrants will receive the Zoom link to the email address they use to register. It will arrive immediately after registration so please check your spam folder if you do not receive it. It will also be sent the day before class as a reminder. Please review the course policies page before registering for any classes. Please email misty@writerscenter.org with any questions.

All HVWC scholarship applications will be available on Dec 1 and will be due on Dec 15 for all winter/spring 2024 classes.
