Exhibit and Opening: “Landscapes: Light, Color, Reflection”
After 34 years away from art, Carol Perron Sommerfield has returned to realize a dream. A step in that journey can be seen at her solo show at the Bronxville Women’s Club during March where she will be exhibiting over 40 of her landscape paintings and pastels, all created during the past three years. The opening reception, which is free to the public, will be held on Sunday, March 1, from 2 pm to 5 pm in the historic Bronxville Women’s Club at 135 Midland Avenue in Bronxville.
Sommerfield uses representational images as metaphors for themes she is experiencing in her life and work. She seeks to evoke a new way of seeing beauty in what is often overlooked in our busy lives. Sommerfield has a love affair with color and light, and uses both to evoke mood in her oil, acrylic and pastel work. In her landscape paintings she has focused on forgotten structures and landscapes in Sullivan County, where she has summered for the past 50 years.
