Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana

Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana represent, without a doubt, the very peak of the flamenco form; Dance Magazine called its leader and founder “the Keeper of Flamenco.” In the group’s 30th anniversary season, they continue to exemplify the fiery and splendid pageantry of flamenco in all its pride and passion with their “spirited dancing and imaginative choreographic concepts…with the power of a speeding train” (New York Times).

The Bang Group presents Nut/Cracked
Sat, Dec 6, 2014 @ 8pm; Sun, Dec 7, 2014 @ 3pm
It’s The Nutcracker, but definitely not as we know it. The Bang Group has taken apart every little kid’s favorite Christmas show and put it back together in a totally surprising, mind-bending new way. Mixing Tchaikovsky’s original score with music by Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller and others, the company turns the sugar-coated ballet into a percussive piece of dance theatre. Nothing is sacred as Nut/Cracked twists and melds various dance traditions into an ode to American eclecticism which honors the power of the human urge to dance while riding Tchaikovsky’s voluptuous waves of rhythm. A co-presentation by the Emelin Theatre and Larchmont-Mamaroneck Community Counseling Center.

Count Basie Orchestra
Fri, Nov 21, 2014 @ 8PM
Swing like it’s 1935 with one of the greatest and most important musical groups in American history, a Big Band orchestra so essential that “legendary” scarcely seems to cover it. In the history of jazz music, Count Basie is the only bandleader whose orchestra is still performing sold out concerts all over the world, with members personally chosen by him, nearly 30 years after his passing. The Count Basie Orchestra has won every respected jazz poll in the world at least once, garnered 18 Grammy Awards, performed for royalty and appeared in movies and television shows and at every major jazz festival and concert hall in the world. Its 18 members give extraordinary concerts that celebrate Basie and his legacy.

A triumphant return to Emelin Theatre by the “genial genius of the guitar” (Toronto Star), infusing the classics of Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra with spectacular jazz flavor. John Pizzarelli has cultivated a stunning international career and sets the standard for stylish modern jazz. Infusing the work of such greats as Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra with the cool jazz flavor of his brilliant guitar playing, Pizzarelli is among the prime interpreters of the Great American Songbook and beyond.

Max Creek

They don’t hesitate to complement other musical genres in their music to keep their variety of electric rock fresh while still maintaining their authenticity.

Stateof- the-art orchestration produces a powerfully stimulating two-hour musical and visual experience highlighting the three major eras of the Beatles’ careers: the Ed Sullivan Show, Sgt. Pepper, and Let lt Be/Abbey Road. It’s not just uncanny mimicry that makes this show so popular; it’s that the wit and charm of the performers are truly reminiscent of the Fab Four.
