Eco Writing Workshop with B.K. Fischer (in person at HVWC)

Concerned about climate? Eager to express yourself in writing about climate change and what it means for your future? Interested in being part of making a documentary film that gives young people a stronger voice for speaking out about the climate crisis? Ready to think about the environment in creative ways?

Come out for this FREE eco-writing workshop led by Westchester Poet Laureate B.K. Fischer, part of the Floodwaters Workshops project sponsored by ArtsWestchester and the Academy of American Poets. Bringing poetry into the local conversation about climate, this indoor/outdoor workshop will begin at the Hudson Valley Writers Center, continue with a half-mile note-taking walk to the Pocantico Estuary (Devries Park), and end with an hour of writing in the landscape using somatic and en plein air practices.

Participants may choose to walk or drive to the outdoor site. The workshop is a multi-generational conversation about climate for young people and students of all ages, a chance to hear differing perspectives on changes that impact human ecologies where we live. Writers in any genre are welcome. Bring waterproof shoes and a notebook!
