Downtown Music Presents: All in the Family – Jake Pietroniro, viola with Bethany Pietroniro, piano

A New Hampshire native, Jake Pietroniro began playing the viola at the age of nine and, as a member of the Boston Youth Symphony, appeared at Symphony Hall and Lincoln Center. He recently earned his Doctor of Music Arts degree from the University of Alabama, having previously won the Hartt School’s Chamber Music Competition while a graduate student. He has performed for members of the St. Lawrence, Chiara, Attaca, Brentano, and Apple Hill String Quartets.

Pianist Bethany Pietroniro has appeared in concert at Alice Tully Hall and the Morgan Library. She spent the summer of 2022 as a collaborative pianist at Tanglewood. Recent performances include the world premiere of Bebop Riddle II for cello and piano by American composer Augusta Read Thomas at the Tanglewood Festival of Contemporary Music, and appearances with Spiral Songs, a series of immersive musical gatherings that curate classical and folk songs reflecting the connection between our lives and cycles of the earth.

This concert is made possible, in part, with the generous support of Beverly and Sabin Streeter.
