If you enjoy the deliciously soulful combination of engaging all of your senses in the intimacy of a warmly inviting cabaret environment, then Devour@Recologie is for you. “Patterns of Migration” is the second event celebrating the collaboration of Devour and Recologie‘s Vistro Café.
Devour is a fully curated, hands-on incubator for culture which began as a cooperative vision between artists, musicians, performers and food service professionals. Bi-monthly events have been held over the past two years at the home of creative director Steve Perkins in Rye Brook, NY.
“We start with compassion that the world has untold diversity AND we all share remarkably similar human needs. We put together people, make them delicious international meals, and introduce them to art created in—and inspired by—those environments” says Perkins.
People meet, share stories, enjoy a meal, take in a performance and view art in casual informality: all in a spirit of living life fully, sharing community through creativity and conversation.
Devour has developed a loyal and growing following. The decision to collaborate with Recologie was generated by their enormous popularity increasing the need for expanded space while maintaining the intimacy of the experience. Recologie‘s new event space is uniquely suited to the blending of art, culture and community gathering with their “re-purposed” décor and welcoming environment.
This event will also introduce You Are Here/Here You Are (or How to Get Lost in Paintings), an exhibition of gleefully colorful works by Steve Perkins. These maps and scraps use the mystery of anticipation as well as confusion to place us all in the shoes of a perpetual traveler, immigrant, student or seeker.
