Debut: Rossini’s Italian Girl in Algiers
Written by the king of comedic opera, Gioachino Rossini, The Italian Girl in Algiers has been debuting in major opera houses throughout the world in greater numbers than ever. Since January 2009, 48 new productions have been offered in 43 cities worldwide. Taconic Opera is pleased to present it right here in Yorktown Heights and White Plains this coming March 2014 so that you can join other happy audience members in enjoying both its fun and beauty. It’s “opera buffa” at its finest: .all ends well, someone is taught a lesson, and thrilling ensemble singing by the entire cast has the audience smiling and tapping their feet. Rossini was called “The Italian Mozart” and, until his retirement in 1829, was the most popular Italian composer in history.
