Debussy and Friends at Hoff-Barthelson Music School
HBMS Faculty celebrates the music of Claude Debussy on the centenary of his death

The Hoff-Barthelson Music School Faculty Concert Series continues on Friday, October 26, 2018, at 7:30 pm with “Debussy and Friends” – a celebration of the music of Debussy on the centenary of his death.  Claude Debussy transformed the ambiguity, audacity, and complexity of the late 19th-century French Impressionist painters and Symbolist poets into a magical, mysterious sound world that propelled music into the Modern Era. Works to be performed include Debussy’s Petite Suite for 2 flutes and piano; Sonata for violin and piano, L. 148; Lia’s aria from L’Enfant Prodigue; Sonata for cello and piano, L. 144; Fauré’s Sonata for violin and piano in A, Opus 13-1; and Lutosławski’s Grave (Metamorphoses for cello and piano 1981).

Faculty performers are Laura Green, soprano; Hélène Jeanney, piano; April Johnson and Gary Kosloski, violin; Joseph Piscitelli, flute; Peter Seidenberg, cello; and Delana Thomsen and Tomoko Uchino, piano. Joining the faculty are guest artists Dominique Soucy, flute and Gary Norden, piano.

Admission to the concert is $20, $15 for seniors (60+) and free of charge for students. Tickets can be ordered by calling 914-723-1169, or e-mailing and are available for purchase at the door. Program and performers subject to change.
