Death is Irrelevant

Death is Irrelevant:
Selections from the Marc and Livia Straus Collection, 1968–2018

October 13, 2018 – August 2, 2019

“Death is a mirror in which the entire meaning of life is reflected.”
Sogyal Rinpoche, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying

Are works of art created in our image a grasp at immortality? Death Is Irrelevant examines this question through the presentation of figurative sculptures from the Marc and Livia Straus Collection. Featuring art created over a forty-year period from seventeen countries, Death is Irrelevant is a contemporary investigation into our timeless inclination to recreate ourselves, explore fragility and mortality, and consider what it means to be alive.
