Instructor Bio:
Lucia Rich (She/Her) is a Movement Arts Educator, SomaSource Practitioner, Yoga/Wellness Instructor and Collaborative Theater Artist devoted to the practice of embodiment through her personal practice, teaching and performing for over 20 years.  A life-long lover of movement, Lucia has trained professionally in classicall, contemporary, improvisational and 5Rhythms Dance. She has studied somatic movement and 5Rhythms for 17 years with Dr. Melissa Michaels (founder of SomaSource) and recently completed her SomaSource LifeCyle Practitioner training with Dr. Melissa Michaels and the SomaSource Institute in Boulder, CO. Lucia is very excited to bring this work to the Ossining Community and to create opportunities for mindful movement exploration and learning.

An early interest in experimental dance, theater and beyond led Lucia to pursue an MFA in Lecoq-based Physical Theater from London International School of Performing Arts in 2005. Since then she has performed in venues worldwide, including NYC, London, Edinburgh, Canada, Bulgaria, Turkey, France and Germany. She has taught in many creative settings such as The New School, Hunter College, Manhattan School of Music, Professional Performing Arts School and 3 Elements Yoga Studio  in NYC as Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School in Steamboat Springs CO, The Actor’s Academy in  Denver, CO, University of Connecticut and The Cortona Session in Cortona, Italy.

Grounding ever more into her creative flow, Lucia strives to surrender to the beat of her own heart in her dance, home, and professional life. She recently exchanged the chaos of NYC for the quiet of Westchester where she lives with her husband (his piano) and their two beautiful children.

“Lucia has inspired our communities for decades. Her dance is grounded and surrendered. Her heart is wide open, pouring forth such sweet love. Her creativity is an endless stream of surprises. Her capacity to bring her audience and community to tears is like none other. She also causes us all to laugh and delight in the human reality that we all find ourselves moving through. Being with Lucia is like basking in sunshine. She is warm, radiant, and clear. I can hear her laughter now; gracious, spacious, free. Lucia is filled with light because she is not afraid to be with the darkness. On and off the stage, she is a teaching and teacher of paradox and wholeness! “
