Creative Writing Workshop for Middle School Students

In this multi-genre creative writing course for 6th-8th graders, participants will engage in generative writing exercises and activities; read and discuss contemporary work by young, emerging writers; and practice providing feedback to their peers in a safe, positive environment. This workshop is designed to be fun, exploratory, and engaging for all teens with an interest in fresh ideas, thought-provoking art, reading, and writing. Participants will work toward producing a final portfolio of their own original writing. Daniel T. O’Brien is a freelance writer and editor living in New York. His work has most recently appeared in American Literary Review, Boston Review, and Prelude Magazine, among other publications. He received his MFA from the Ohio State University, where he also served as poetry editor of the award-winning literary magazine, The Journal. Please note that class does not meet on May 13.
