Copland House Concert at Lyndhurst
SOUNDS IN MRS. GOULD’S SALON With MUSIC FROM COPLAND HOUSE
“Hard to imagine a better performance.” (American Record Guide)
“Well worth the standing ovation.” (Buffalo News)
Step back in time with the internationally-acclaimed Music from Copland House ensemble for a concert of music that Lyndhurst’s grande dame Helen Gould and her family and friends might have heard right here at her magnificent estate at the dawn of the 20th century. This vibrant program features the beloved “Dumky” Trio, inspired by Bohemian folk music, and composed by the formidable Czech master Antonin Dvorak just before he crossed the Atlantic for an eventful 3-year stay in New York. The concert also includes music by Tarrytown’s most illustrious composer of the era, Charles Tomlinson Griffes, and one of 19th century America’s greatest musical figures, George Whitefield Chadwick.
Concert will be held at 4 pm in the Lyndhurst Carriage House. Seating is general admission.
