Concert of Many Voices: Reform, Renewal, Encounter

October 31, 2017 marks the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. Iona College has a long history of Christian ecumenical and inter-religious engagement. In the early decades of the 21st century, religious understanding and cooperation is an important path toward peace and human flourishing in our local communities and across the globe.

Join us for this multi-religious concert as we use music to commemorate the potential of religions to renew our communities and foster new encounters with other people. Performers will come from a variety of churches, synagogues, mosques, and other organizations. Each group will be performing selections of multicultural peace songs. The concert will culminate with the combined choirs singing Elliott Levine’s “The Path”, which was commissioned in 2015 for the 50th Anniversary of the Vatican II document “Nostra Aetate: Declaration on the Church’s Relationship to Non-Christian Religions”.
