Concert: City Lights: The Musical World of John Musto
John Musto is as dazzling on the piano bench as he is at the composer’s worktable, and his many gifts will be on display in City Lights: The Musical World of John Musto on Sunday, December 7 at 3pm. Animated by Bach, the Baroque, and pop music, his music seamlessly bridges the concert hall, the jazz club, and the musical stage. From Music from Copland House’s acclaimed CD of his chamber works comes his Piano Trio and Clarinet Sextet. Musto will perform – inimitably – some Bach, and the program will also include the eve-popular Clarinet Sonata by another of Musto’s heroes, Leonard Bernstein. Baritone James Martin, a Copland House favorite, returns for Musto’s exquisite song cycle, Shadow of the Blues, on poems by Langston Hughes.
