Clay Art Center Good Vibrations Exhibition

Clay Art Center is pleased to present Good Vibrations

A juried and invitational exhibition featuring ceramic works that express a sense of joy through the dynamic use of colors.

Opening Reception: April 29th, 5 – 7pm

In the Gallery and Online
April 28th – June 2nd, 2023

Positivity reverberates through color and form in the Clay Art Center Artist Member Exhibition Good Vibrations. Works selected by Guest Juror Cory Brown explore the expressive and lively variations of color that lift the spirit and vibrate the soul, ranging from sculptures to wall pieces and functional ceramics. Artists have also created a rainbow of vases and flower bricks reflecting the exhibition theme using dynamic color, positivity and joy, shown in the second, invitational portion of the exhibition. This exhibition celebrates all the beautiful colors surrounding us that bring delight and energy to our daily lives.

Cory Brown States, “Clay Art Center Artist Members skillfully share their beautiful discoveries that resonate deep in our minds and our being. Inert clay from the earth has the ability to take on any form and an incredible synthesis happens when creative individuals come along to imbue their personality, emotions, and specific touch to the material. The artists themselves are truly the Good Vibrations and the objects are how we experience them.”

Participating artists: Peter Arnow, Dalia Berman, Julie Buyon, Claire Cohen, Jane Neuss Cohen, Deborah Heid, Robin Henschel, Debra Holiber, Mia Karlberg Levin, Jamie Lee, Polina Nisenbaum, Kay Petronio, Jessica Palmer, Roberta Shapiro, Suruchi Tripathi, Beth Willensky, Susan Wortman.

Clay Art Center’s Artist Program

Clay Art Center was founded in 1957 by Katherine Choy, a leader of the Newcomb pottery aesthetic, joined by master potter Henry Okamoto, as a communal studio in 1957. This offered the opportunity for ceramic artists to learn from one another and share resources. Their vision lives on today in our CAC Artist Program which provides access to studio space and a nurturing ceramics community for over 50 ceramics artists. Both the invitational and juried exhibitions celebrate the artistic achievements of our Clay Art Center artists.
