Opening reception and live musical performance by Christopher Brown on January 4 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. This exhibit is a collection of some of Chris’ favorite pieces from 2004-2019.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT: For many years I have been very fortunate to have made my living making art and playing music — very fortunate indeed. Growing up my favorite artist was the brilliant Al Hirschfeld, whose illustrations regularly adorned the Arts section of the Sunday New York Times. Hirschfeld caricatures weren’t exaggerated truth. What he exposed was more real than real. Kind of what Bob Dylan does with lyrics. It’s what I wanted to do. For the past 15 years I’ve been lucky to have had the opportunity to pursue this goal as a graphics artist for the Journal News. At TJN, my responsibilities included illustrating covers for the Arts, Sports and Life and Style sections. This was the work I loved.
Chris is a graduate of Iona College (Bachelor of Arts in English, Minor in Art) and attended Richard Williams’ Animation Masterclass, Tribeca Film Center, NY as well as NYU School of Continuing Education, New York, NY, 3D Animation in SoftImage. He is a Member of Graphic Arts Guild and ASCAP. He has been a Performing Singer/ Songwriter since 1980
