Christina McPhee: Regeneration

Regeneration assembles a body of recent work by the multidisciplinary artist Christina McPhee that draws upon her decades-long exploration of remote landscapes, memory, sojourns both spiritual and ecological, and a keen interest in what lies beyond our human comprehension. Her central practice of drawing forms a connective tissue as it evolves across paintings, works on handmade paper, and videos–all of which will be shown in a theatrical environment that encourages an immersion into the artist’s performative mark-making practices and the works’ seductive beauty. A selection of six of the artist’s major video works will be shown in rotation and includes “Yes! Lord: Paradise Remix,” (2021) a kaleidoscopic fusion of music, spoken word and deeply saturated images created in collaboration with writer and religious scholar, Ashon Crawley.
