CEY ADAMS TURNS HVCCA INTO AN OPEN STUDIO

The legendary creative director of Def Jam Records, Cey Adams, will be turning the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art (HVCCA) into an open studio space as part of his upcoming artist residency. Before his solo exhibition, Pop Revolution opens on April 14th, Cey Adams will be creating the final work at HVCCA. During regular museum hours from April 6-8th, visitors can watch Cey at work, experience his creative process, and just chat with him. Beyond being an artist, Cey is a mentor and a maker and loves to talk while working. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime chance for the local community to converse with one of the most applauded artists to emerge from the hip-hop tradition. While in Peekskill, Cey will also lead the students of Summit Academy as they create a collaborative mural.

Pop Revolution opens April 14th from 5-7pm at HVCCA. Mayor Andre Rainey of the City of Peekskill, aka DJ Noodle, will provide a hip-hop soundtrack to the event. Artists Katori Bishop and Evan Walker will be body-painting interested attendees with designs based on Cey’s work.
