Ceramic Surface Designs

In this 3-part workshop we will begin by hand-building some simple ceramic forms to use as test pieces for different surface design techniques. Then, while the clay is still in the wet to leather hard stage, we will begin to explore a variety of ways to add interest to the clay surface: using different textures, low-tech image transfer (printing on the clay), sgraffito, and using underglazes. Finally, after our pieces have been bisque fired,  we will glaze them. No previous ceramic experience required, just a willingness to experiment and explore.
