Sarah Lawrence College Graduate Writing Program presents Barr Poetry Series featuring Christian Wiman
Award-winning poet Christian Wiman, will read from his most recent collection, Hammer is the Prayer on November 15, 7 pm at Slonim House at Sarah Lawrence College.
Editor of Poetry Magazine from 2003 to 2013, Wiman is the author of seven previous books, including a memoir, My Bright Abyss: Meditation of a Modern Believer; Every Riven Thing, winner of the Ambassador Book Award in poetry; and Stolen Air: Selected Poems of Osip Mandelstam. He currently teaches religion and literature at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music and Yale Divinity School.
Presented by the Sarah Lawrence Graduate Writing Program, Wiman’s reading is sponsored by the John and Penny Barr Poetry Reading Series. A reception with book sales and signing will follow Wiman’s reading. No reservations are required for this free program.
