Author Visit and Exhibit Feature: 45-foot inflated replica of the JOIDES Resolution

What is it like to live and work on a science research boat? What is the Antarctic like? Karen Romano Young returned from her voyage aboard the JOIDES Resolution to the Amundsen Sea in Western Antarctica in March. She will explain the mission of the scientists on board, share the thrills and hardships of ship life and of the extreme climate of Antarctica, and talk about the challenges of making art at sea. Karen is a comic artist and children’s book author and she will show her work to help us ‘get the picture.’
