Author Talk: David Baldacci
He made a big splash on the literary scene with the publication of his first novel, Absolute Power. A major motion picture adaptation followed, with Clint Eastwood as its director and star. In total, David has published 27 novels, all of which have been national and international bestsellers; several have been adapted for film and television. His novels have been translated into more than 45 languages and sold in more than 80 countries; over 110 million copies are in print worldwide. David has also published four novels for children.
David received his Bachelor’s degree in political science from Virginia Commonwealth University and his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, after which he practiced law in Washington, D.C.
In his blockbuster thrillers Zero Day and The Forgotten, readers met John Puller, a combat veteran and special agent with the U.S. Army. Puller is the man they call to investigate the toughest crimes facing the nation in Baldacci’s newest book, The Escape, due out in November.

Feeding Body & Mind
Fact: One in four people in a soup kitchen line is a child and there is no question that a strong association exists between malnutrition early in life and late manifestations of intellectual impairment. Obviously there is a clear correlation between poverty and low-literacy skills. While food can keep one alive, it cannot, by itself, lift one from poverty. However, increased literacy skills can; thus the Feeding Body & Mind program. Through Feeding Body & Mind new and gently used books are collected and distributed through Feeding America’s nationwide network of food banks. By providing books along side food, Feeding Body& Mind recognizes the direct and substantial link between nutrition and learning, and hopes to end the cycle of physical and intellectual undernourishment.
Here’s how it works:
- When you attend a book signing by David Baldacci, look for our donation box – it’s a large white box with the Feeding Body & Mind logo
- Simply place your new or gently used book(s) in the box – that’s it!
Once the Feeding Body & Mind donation box is full, your local bookstore will ship the box directly to your community food bank, ensuring that your generous donation stays within your community and benefits those families living closest to you.
Feeding Body & Mind provides a very easy, practical and significant way to make an impact on our nation’s children and families. To learn more about the program visitwww.feedingbodyandmind.com
