Artist Conversation: Cross Pollination
Join us for an engaging afternoon as we meet for a moderated discussion with the five artists behind Collective Art Space (CAS).
CAS is an experiment in the benefits of pooling together artistic resources and inviting others in. Over the last decade Alison Mara, Jen Moore Smith, Alison Cimmet, Marisa Gonzales Silverstein, and Raine Gifford have enjoyed working alongside each other within their shared studio space in Dobbs Ferry. The long-term exposure to one another’s work has revealed threads of influence in each artist’s choices and inspirations, even as each individual’s practice remains unique and intact.
The studio is like a living entity, fed by and sustaining its members, and somehow more than the sum of its parts. Cross Pollination was first explored as an exhibit at the Donald Gallery and now as an Artist Conversation with RiverArts, we inivte you to explore the creative ecosystem and why artmaking within community may be the best thing an artist can do for themselves and their work.Â
