Art Industry Media (AIM) ’18


Art Industry Media (AIM) is a newly-formed division of the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce. AIM’s mission is to promote Peekskill and the surrounding Chamber territory as a media hub for the lower Hudson Valley. Proximity to NYC, ease of transportation, educated creative workforce, and competitive commercial and residential real estate contribute to make this a uniquely favorable media business environment.

AIM’s inaugural initiative is Art Industry and Media 18 (aka AIM 18), an exciting weekend of events and programming designed to celebrate the region’s emergence as a center for multimedia in the Hudson Valley. Participating organizations include Westchester Community CollegeHudson Valley Center for Contemporary ArtPeekskill Arts AlliancePeekskill Film Festival and Peekskill Clay Studio.

SCHEDULE:

SATURDAY, MARCH 24TH

11:00 to 12:30pm at Dramatic Hall
Panel discussion: How multimedia can be a engine for economic development.
Panelists:  Assemblywoman Sandy Galef, State Senator Terrence Murphy, Westchester County Director of Operations Joan McDonald and Peekskill Mayor Andre Rainey
Moderated by Lawrence Scherer, State & Broadway, Government Relations
Doors open at 10:30 refreshments will be served”

12 to 3 pm at Peekskill Clay Studios
Fluxional Clay: doors open at 11 am, reception 1 pm
Fluxional Clay will showcase examples of contemporary ceramic work that have been chosen for their innovative use of found materials, digital processes and/or multimedia approaches.

4 to 8 pm at HVCCA
4 pm to 6:30 pm, Alejandro Jodorowsky, “Endless Poetry” including Q & A with Mick Gochanour presented by the Peekskill Film Festival followed by media opening of HVCCA’s latest film exhibition – focused on new media artists in the NY area – video, projection & photographs. Workshop & Keynote – Keith Burgun: Game Design Talk

1 to 2pm at Westchester Community College
Talk Bre Pettis Workshop – Bre Pettis, owner of Bantam Tools (www.bantamtools.com), will talk about “The Future of Everything.” His remarks will be complemented by a design workshop using a Bantam printed-circuit-board desktop milling machine. Sponsored by Westchester Community College Center for the Digital Arts in partnership with The Field Library (*space limited)

2 to 4 pm Division Street Guitars – 36 N Division Street, Peekskill
Painting Poetry with PAA

7 pm at Paramout Hudson Valley
staged reading of “Indian Joe: the Musical”. Written by and starring Elizabeth A Davis, directed by Don Scardino.

5 to 7 pm at HVCCA
