Art Exhibition: “tuned”

“tuned”

Visit show: August 23 – September 18

The opening reception will be on Saturday, August 27, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Tuned is an exhibition featuring the work of Amanda Duchen, Marilyn D. Glass, and Angela Rustici on view at Chroma Fine Art Gallery now through September 18. Curator Rita Baunok has assembled these three, because they bring a sophisticated and unique sensitivity to their practice. The resulting exhibition feels akin to hearing an elegant trio of female voices – balanced, complex, graceful, elevated.

Amanda Duchen is an architect and ceramicist, whose projects aim to “transform an idea into functional reality.” Through the use of various glazes, clays and firing techniques, the pieces on display are unpredictable, delightfully unique, and meant to be used. The elegant crackles in her Raku vessels reveal a structure of refined lyricism.

Marilyn D. Glass brings great creative range to her artmaking practice. Her experience stems from career roles as diverse as design editor, interior designer, author, art instructor, and board member for several cultural institutions. The monotypes and collages on view in Tuned are expressive, perceptive and exquisitely executed.

“My art is the exploration of the paint, the surface, my life, my memories, what I see and how I see it,” explains Angela Rustici. She works with textiles and encaustic (hot, pigmented wax), to explore the intersection of time, sound and memory. Each piece resounds with a unique timbre, and engages the space of the gallery (and the other works on display) with its harmonious vibrational energy.
