Art and refreshments for a good cause

Join us for art and delicious refreshments! All for a good cause, to help children in Rwanda. All proceeds from the sale of selected works of art will benefit the Rwanda Education Assistance Project (REAP) which provides education and leadership initiatives in Rwanda. The event is free and open to the public.  These artists have generously donated pieces of their work:                                                    Chris Green, Linda Puiatti, Lila Turjanski-Villard, Julie Betts Testwuide, Ben Kreiger, Claire Melbourne.

The sculpture above “Trying to Flourish” was created by sculptor Chris Green in green Serpentine stone from Zimbabwe. The artist was inspired by the work that Rwanda Education Assistance Project does to improve education and the lives of children in Rwanda. The sculpture takes on characteristics of both the human form and a tree, symbolizing the importance of education to the growth of a child and a country, for both to flourish. Two books at the base represent the role of literacy as the cornerstone of education while a shield near the top reveals the belief that education is a shield against ignorance and will ultimately help create an environment where genocide is no longer possible. This sculpture will be available for sale at this event.

Join us with family and friends to be part of this special community event.
