Aoife O’Donovan / The Stray Birds: Roots Music in the Music Room

Aoife O’Donovan, widely known as the lead singer of alt-bluegrass/string band Crooked Still, as a member of the folk noir trio Sometymes Why, and as the vocalist on the GRAMMY winning album The Goat Rodeo Sessions with Yo-Yo Ma, Chris Thile, Edgar Meyer and Stuart Duncan, joins us for a special solo acoustic performance. The stunning versatility and appeal of her voice brought her to the attention of some of the most eminent names across roots, classical, bluegrass, and jazz and led to collaborations across a wide variety of genres with everyone from Alison Krauss to Dave Douglas.

Opening for Aoife is The Stray Birds, a string band hailing from Lancaster County, named one of the 2013 folk bands to watch (Kim Ruehl and Linda Fahey, NPR Music).
