Annual Exhibition of Historical Society of Early American Decoration

The annual spring conference and exhibition of the Historical Society of Early American Decoration (HSEAD) will be held at the Sonesta Hotel Downtown White Plains from Friday May 2 through Sunday May 4. Admission is free. On display will be newly painted boxes, metal trays and furniture painted in the style of traditional objects that graced 18th and 19th century homes. Exhibition hours open to the public vary from day to day.  Friday May 2 hours are 4-10 pm, Saturday May 3, 9 am-10 pm, and Sunday May 4, 9 am-12 noon.

HSEAD members, who are highly skilled and knowledgeable about historic decorative arts techniques, preserve and reproduce antique patterns in art forms like Country Painting on tin, Penwork, Freehand Bronze painting, stenciling, Pontypool painting, Theorems, Reverse Glass Painting and Gilding on Glass, Painted Clock Dials, Bronze Powder Stenciling on wood and tin, Victorian Flower Painting and Women’s Painted Furniture.  HSEAD is devoted to the research and preservation of historically authentic early American decoration, and its members work arduously to copy and preserve these antique patterns, a clear link to the country’s history.
