An Evening with Patrick Donnelly, Ron Slate, and Stephanie Strickland


Patrick Donnelly is the author of four books of poetry. Former poet laureate of Northampton, Massachusetts, Donnelly is director of the Poetry Seminar at The Frost Place. Donnelly’s translations with Stephen D. Miller of classical Japanese poetry were awarded the 2015-2016 Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission Prize for the Translation of Japanese Literature. Donnelly’s other awards include a U.S./Japan Creative Artists Program Award, an Artist Fellowship from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Margaret Bridgman Fellowship in Poetry from the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, and an Amy Clampitt Residency Award. He lives outside of Northampton, Massachusetts.

Ron Slate earned his Masters degree in creative writing from Stanford University and studied American literature at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. The Incentive of the Maggot, his first book of poems, was published by Houghton Mifflin. The collection was nominated for the National Book Critics Circle poetry prize and the Lenore Marshall Prize of the Academy of American Poets. The collection won the Bakeless Poetry Prize (Breadloaf Writers Conference) and the Larry Levis Reading Prize of Virginia Commonwealth University. The Great Wave, his second book, was also published by Houghton.

Stephanie Strickland has published nine books of printed poetry and eleven works of trans-medial, electronic, and digital literature. Awards include two Di Castagnola Prizes from The Poetry Society, the Sandeen and Brittingham Prizes, NEH and NEA grants, the Boston Review, Pushcart, Salt Hill, and Best American Poetry prizes. She is known for her wide-ranging collaborations and her works have been widely anthologized, exhibited, and taught, as have her critical articles. Her files and papers are being collected by the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Duke University.
