Alexander String Quartet with Joyce Yang
Having performed on five continents, the “Alexanders” are one of the world’s top ensembles. It is the first American string quartet, ever, to have won the London International String Quartet Competition, by taking both the audience prize and the jury’s highest honor. Widely admired for its interpretations of Beethoven, Mozart, and Shostakovich, the Quartet has also established itself as an important advocate of new music through over 25 commissions and numerous premiere performances.
The Alexander String Quartet will be joined by Joyce Yang on piano. Blessed with “poetic and sensitive pianism” (Washington Post) and a “wondrous sense of color” (San Francisco Classical Voice), Yang captivates audiences with her virtuosity, lyricism, and interpretive prowess. Yang is a Van Cliburn International Piano Competition silver medalist and Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient.
