Afro-Peruvian Ensemble at the Hudson River Museum Amphitheater

A free performance at the HRM Amphitheater! The Afro-Peruvian Ensemble is an all-star band that brings rhythms of the Peruvian coast from uplifted festejos to contrapunto de Zapateo (box drum counterpoint). Doors open at 7:30pm.

This remarkable ensemble lead by Peruvian drummer and educator Hector Morales features some masters of this musical tradition who live in the US. These include former Peru Negro singer and dancer Mariela Valencia; former Peru Negro and Eva Ayllon percussionist Marcos Napa; former Peru Negro percussionist Hector Ferreyra; innovative guitarist/arranger Yuri Juarez and the great Argentinian bass player Pedro Giraudo.
