AARON COPLAND AT 125!

All-Copland: Sextet for Clarinet, Piano, and Strings; Quartet for Piano and Strings; and Duo for Violin and Piano

How better to launch our new season than by celebrating the 125th Anniversary of the birth of “the Dean of American Music!” Crossing through 40 years of Copland’s transformational career, our program spotlights three major, wide-ranging works encompassing the airy exuberance, spiky energy, and spare yet rich lyricism of his music. The concert includes his last major work, the scintillating Duo, in its rarely-heard version for violin made by the legendary founder of Juilliard Quartet, Robert Mann, and performed by one of his last students, the now-acclaimed Siwoo Kim.

Graeme Steele Johnson, clarinet; Siwoo Kim and Yebin Yoo, violins; Tanner Menees, viola; Ari Evan, cello; Michael Boriskin, piano
