A Celebration of Local Authors with Ira Rosen, Lori Toppel, and Alan Winikoff

The Board and Staff of HVWC are thrilled to welcome our local community to our first in-person reading since February 2020.

We are happy to hold this event in person in accordance with the current state and CDC health guidelines. We will be asking attendees to show proof of vaccination and are pleased to report that HVWC will have a retrofitted HVAC system at the time of this reading.

Join us for a celebration of our talented local prose writers: Alan Winikoff, Lori Toppel, and Ira Rosen.

Alan Winnikoff will be reading from his new novel, Not Sleeping (Crowsnest Books, 2021). He is also the author of the 2017 novella The Weekend, which was praised by reviewers as “smooth,” “reflective” and “a stunning picture of doubt, realization and the what-ifs of love.” A native of Los Angeles, Winnikoff owns a public relations and social media firm in Manhattan. He lives in Sleepy Hollow with his wife, their two sons, and their ever reliable autism service dog, Cedar.

Lori Toppel is the author of the novella The Word Next to the One I Want (Los Galesburg Press, 2021), the collaborative memoir Still Here Thinking of You: A Second Chance With Our Mothers (Big Table Publishing, 2013), and the novel Three Children. Her stories and essays have appeared in literary journals including Inkwell Journal, The Antioch Review and The Del Sol Review. Toppel, the mother of twin boys, grew up in Puerto Rico and now lives in Pound Ridge with her husband. More at loritoppel.com.

For nearly twenty-five years, Ira Rosen has produced award-winning stories for 60 Minutes. A former Nieman Fellow at Harvard University, Rosen was a senior producer of Primetime Live with Diane Sawyer. Rosen has won 24 National Emmys, four duPont Awards, two RFK Awards, and two Peabodys for his work. He is the coauthor of The Warning: Accident at Three Mile Island and most recently, Ticking Clock: Behind the Scenes at 60 Minutes (St Martin’s Press, 2021).
