To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Hudson River Valley Ramble will be offering a tour of the historic grounds at Lyndhurst, a Gothic Revival masterpiece overlooking the Hudson River. The site reflects nearly 175 years of life on the Hudson River contained in 67 park-like acres that include 16 structures, such as a Lord & Burnham steel-framed greenhouse complex, and the oldest regulation bowling alley in the United States. Lyndhurst’s magnificent grounds contain an award-winning rose garden, a fern garden, rock garden, specimen trees, the now-aged lindens for which the property was named; along with new lower landscape pathways that offer spectacular views of the Hudson River.

This 2-hour guided tour will start from the Visitor Center, the brick complex located at the end of the driveway, where visitors can check-in, pick up bottled water, and a map of the grounds. Public restrooms are located in the Visitor Center, Bowling Alley Pavilion, and by the Greenhouse.

  • Lyndhurst welcomes all visitors, but please note that this tour requires extensive walking on hilly grounds for about two hours outside and is not recommended for visitors with disabilities or difficulty walking.
  • The guided tour will start at the Welcome Center, the brick complex located at the end of the driveway, where visitors can check-in, pick up bottled water, and a map of the grounds.
  • Online tickets must be purchased by 8 AM on the date of your selected tour. After 8 AM, please purchase your tickets in person at the Welcome Center.
  • Plan to arrive at the Welcome Center 15 minutes prior to your tour.
