2018 Thomas H. Wright Lecture: Small Actions for Big Justice—Albert Sykes

In this lecture, Albert Sykes, the Executive Director of the Institute for Democratic Education in America (IDEA), shares a powerful personal story, one that is rooted in the struggles and search for quality education through community organizing and youth advocacy. Sykes advocates for policies such as Quality Education as a Constitutional Right and works in conjunction with many organizations, including the NAACP, where he serves on the Statewide Education Committee. Through his many experiences, this Mississippian has gained firsthand knowledge and understanding of Black Mississippi’s struggle for justice, equity, and full citizenship.

This event will take place at Reisinger Concert Hall on Monday, July 9th, at 4:30 p.m. To register and learn more about this lecture, visit www.sarahlawrence.edu/news-events/events/2017-2018/2018-07-09-child_development_in-eid220723.html
