Brianna Thomas

Brianna Thomas moved to NYC in 2007 to attend The New School University and has since established herself as a talented vocalist on the contemporary jazz scene. She has performed with jazz greats Wycliffe Gordon, Wynton Marsalis, Russell Malone, The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra, and longtime hero Dianne Reeves. Thomas has also performed nationally and internationally ranging from the Women in Jazz Festival at Jazz At Lincoln Center to the prestigious Montreux, Umbria, Bern, and Sochi Jazz Festivals.  Thomas recently released her debut album You Must Believe in Love.   A recent reviewer praised Brianna Thomas for her “strong voice and big range, descended from Sarah Vaughan and Betty Carter and routed through Dianne Reeves, with clarity and confidence and a little dirt.”  Describing her set at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, the review summed up Brianna Thomas:  “In a set-ending blues, she twisted her mouth, bent her head, hollered, repeated words. ‘Every, every, every, every, every place I go,’ she sang during a verse; in a scat solo she built a whole chorus out of a single note, using the syllable (or the command) ‘git.’ It was striking and well paced: You didn’t need to hear any more after that.”
