ANDROMACHE, a reading

FREE Library Theater – Andromache, by Jean Racine

Translated and adapted by Bruce Pearl

A reading of Racine’s 1667 tragedy. It’s a year after the fall of Troy, Pyrrhus has fallen in love with Andromache, Hector’s widow, whom he has brought back to Greece as his slave. Andromache is revolted by his advances. However, when it is discovered that Andromache managed to spirit Hector’s infant son out of Troy, Greece demands the boy’s death and only Pyrrhus, and his love for Andromache, stands in their way. Andromache must now decide between yielding to Pyrrhus or watching as her son dies. No registration, doors open at 1:45 pm.
