“ARTISTS PALETTE: where Death Valley meets New York” opening at Steamer Gallery
“ARTISTS PALETTE: where Death Valley meets New York” opens at the Steamer Gallery of the Ossining Arts Council on September 20. This unique exhibition features original works by local artist, Lynne Bolwell. Included will be her highly regarded Death Valley watercolors, as well as paintings of other parks and the Hudson Valley.
“ARTISTS PALETTE” is an overlook in Death Valley where iron deposits leave a “palette” of reds, yellows and purples. Bolwell uses her “desert paints”, made of ground minerals such as bronzite, hematite, and turquoise to capture the beauty. She has used these paints extensively, “on location”, throughout the Mojave and Sonoran Deserts. When she returns to the Hudson Valley, she “switches it up” to paint equally expressive watercolors with a much more traditional palette. This is an opportunity to see “on location” paintings from both paintboxes.
Artist’s reception will be September 20, 5-7. Contact [email protected] or [email protected] for more information.
