Leslie Pintchik Trio
On Saturday, August 9th jazz pianist Leslie Pintchik returns to Alvin & Friends with Scott Hardy on bass and Satoshi Takeishi on drums. The New Yorker called her recent CD In The Nature of Things “one of the most captivating recordings to come out so far this year,” and WBGO described it as “a gorgeous display of the trio.” Before embarking on her musical career Pintchik taught English literature at Columbia Univeristry, where she received her Master of Philosophy degree in 17th century English literature. She surfaced on the Manhattan jazz scene in a trio with legendary bassist Red Mitchell at Bradley’s, chosen by Mitchell for the warmth and powerful interplay he heard in her pairing with guitarist Scott Hardy. Pintchik former her own trio with Hardy and drummer Satoshi Takeishi, and they perform regularly at NYC jazz venues. The trio has released three CDs; Downbeat Magazine says “Pintchik’s music is fresh, full of light and instantly invigorating…. Their elation is contagious.” As Gary Walker at WBGO writes “Even with all that technology has to offer, the best way to hear any performer is still as it always was: live.” So don’t miss this opportunity to hear Leslie Pintchik at Alvin & Friends.
